Since Feb 2008, Coeliac UK have directly invited members to donate a sample for our research sample (saliva/spit). Details have been included in a variety of Coeliac UK publications, including the Spring 2008 issue of Crossed Grain.

we have now no backlog in sending out kits.
we are now sending out kits to 'control' individuals nominated by those giving a coeliac sample.
We are really pleased with the response from Coeliac UK members so far. We still need more samples, so please continue to call/email.
We plan to use these and existing samples in the next six months. We expect some results towards the end of 2008. The first project will be to extend our current genome wide association study to identify more coeliac risk genes. The second project will be to more accurately map genetic risk variants within the regions we already know.
